Starting from Srinagar, the route traverses through the breathtaking Zoji La into Ladakh, where ancient monasteries and traditional villages dot the rugged terrain. Explore the bustling markets, ancient palaces, and majestic monasteries at Leh. Itinerary

Day 1: Land in Srinagar and head towards Kargil via Songmarg and Zoji La. En route visit Drass/Kargil War Memorial. Overnight in Kargil

Upon landing in Srinagar, begin your scenic journey towards Kargil. Drive through the picturesque landscapes of Sonamarg, known for its stunning meadows and snow-capped peaks. Continue your ascent through the challenging yet breathtaking Zoji La Pass, one of the highest mountain passes in the region. En route, make a poignant stop at the Drass/Kargil War Memorial, a tribute to the soldiers who fought in the 1999 Kargil War. Take a moment to reflect on the bravery and sacrifice of these heroes. After this meaningful visit, proceed to Kargil for an overnight stay, resting up for the adventures that lie ahead.
Day 2: Kargil to Leh via Lamayuru, Sangam(confluence of Indus and Zanskar), Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, Magnetic Hill & Hall Of Fame. Overnight in Leh

Depart from Kargil and journey towards Leh, passing through the mesmerizing landscapes of Ladakh.

Lamayuru is home to one of the oldest and most picturesque monasteries in the region, often referred to as the “Moonland” due to its unique terrain.

Sangam is the confluence of the Zanskar and Indus rivers, a stunning natural site near Leh. The contrasting colors of the two merging rivers offer a breathtaking view, and it’s also popular for river rafting.

Magnetic Hill, near Leh, is a gravity hill where vehicles appear to defy gravity and move uphill. This optical illusion is created by the surrounding landscape.

Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, located about 25 miles from Leh, is a revered Sikh temple known for its spiritual significance and miraculous stories associated with Guru Nanak Dev. Visitors can see a sacred rock with the impression of Guru Nanak’s back.

The Hall of Fame is a museum maintained by the Indian Army, dedicated to soldiers who lost their lives in the Indo-Pak wars. It features exhibits on weapons, uniforms, and Ladakhi culture.

Day 3: Leisure Day in Leh. Visit Shanti Stupa,Leh Palace, Tsemo & Leh Market. Overnight in Leh

Shanti Stupa is a white-domed Buddhist stupa on a hilltop in Chanspa, Leh. Built to promote world peace and commemorate 2500 years of Buddhism, it offers panoramic views, especially at sunrise and sunset.

Leh Palace, a 17th-century former royal palace, overlooks Leh and resembles the Potala Palace in Tibet. It offers a glimpse into the royal family’s history and panoramic views of the area.

Namgyal Tsemo Monastery, on a hilltop above Leh Palace, was founded in the 15th century. It houses a three-story high statue of Maitreya Buddha and ancient manuscripts, offering spectacular views of Leh.

Evening in Leh Market & Overnight in Leh

Leh Market is the bustling heart of Leh, filled with traditional and modern shops. It’s ideal for shopping local handicrafts, souvenirs, and experiencing local culture and cuisine.
Day 4: Leh (11500 ft) to Hunder (10000 ft) via Khardung La (17580 ft) & Diskit Monastery. Visit the sand dunes in Hunder. Overnight in Hunder

Embark on a captivating day trip from Hunder to explore the hidden treasures of Turtuk, Thang, and Zero Point. Our first stop is Turtuk, located approximately 80 km away from Hunder. Perched at an altitude of 9,846 ft, Turtuk is a tranquil oasis nestled amidst the stunning vistas of Nubra Valley. As we approach the village, we’re greeted by the sight of apricot trees lining the path, leading us to a quaint wooden bridge spanning a serene river. Crossing this bridge, we enter Turtuk. Turtuk holds the distinction of being the last village in Nubra Valley where travel permits are issued for tourists. Stepping into Turtuk feels like stepping back in time, as the village’s rich cultural heritage and storied past come to life through its architecture, traditions, and way of life. Explore the Balti Museum, offering insights into the region’s history and culture, or visit the local cold storage facilities, where residents preserve their harvests for the harsh winter months.

Continuing our journey, we make our way to Thang. The intriguing history of Thang dates back to 1971 when it was part of Baltistan under Pakistan’s control. The elders of the village share a fascinating anecdote of waking up one morning to find themselves part of India

Day 5: Day trip to Turtuk, Thang & Zero Point. Overnight in Hunder (10000 ft)

Day 6: Hunder (10000 ft) to Pangong (14200 ft). Overnight in Pangong

Today involves an exhilarating journey from Hunder at 10,000 ft to the stunning Pangong Lake at 14,200 ft via the scenic Shyok route. This route, known for its captivating views, winds along the Shyok River, treating travelers to Ladakh’s diverse landscapes of majestic mountains and serene valleys, offering a shorter and more scenic path compared to other routes.

Starting early from Hunder, the approximately 5-6 hour drive promises awe-inspiring vistas along the way. Keep an eye out for marmots, friendly inhabitants of these high-altitude regions, as you traverse through this picturesque terrain.

Upon reaching Pangong Lake, you’ll be mesmerized by its mesmerizing blue waters nestled amidst towering peaks. Spend the evening basking in the tranquil ambiance, capturing the breathtaking scenery, and unwinding by the lakeshore.

As you conclude the day, settle in for an overnight stay near Pangong Lake, immersing yourself in the pristine and serene environment of this high-altitude gem.

Before you retire for the night, don’t miss visiting the iconic “3 Idiots shooting point” at Spangmik near Pangong Lake. This spot gained fame after being featured in the Bollywood movie “3 Idiots” and offers a picturesque backdrop for some memorable photographs, adding a touch of cinematic charm to your Ladakh adventure.
Day 7: Pangong (14200 ft) to Hanle. Overnight in Hanle (13900 ft)

Start your day early from Pangong Lake and head towards Leh via Chang La Pass, one of the highest motorable passes in the world, standing at an elevation of approximately 17,590 ft. In fact, may do not know that Chang La is higher than Khardung La. Take some time to enjoy the breathtaking views from the pass before continuing your journey.

En route to Leh, make a stop at Thiksey Monaster a beautiful Tibetan Buddhist monastery perched atop a hill. Explore the monastery’s architecture and witness the monks going about their daily routines.

You can also visit Shey Palace, a historic site that once served as the summer retreat for the kings of Ladakh. Admire the palace’s ancient artifacts and take in the panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Or take a detour to Hemis Monastery, the largest and wealthiest monastery in Ladakh.

Finally, return to Leh and enjoy your last evening in Leh market.
Day 8: Hanle (13900 ft) to Tso Moriri. (14900 ft) Overnight in Karzok, Tsomoriri

Start your day early from Pangong Lake and head towards Leh via Chang La Pass, one of the highest motorable passes in the world, standing at an elevation of approximately 17,590 ft. In fact, may do not know that Chang La is higher than Khardung La. Take some time to enjoy the breathtaking views from the pass before continuing your journey.

En route to Leh, make a stop at Thiksey Monaster a beautiful Tibetan Buddhist monastery perched atop a hill. Explore the monastery’s architecture and witness the monks going about their daily routines.

You can also visit Shey Palace, a historic site that once served as the summer retreat for the kings of Ladakh. Admire the palace’s ancient artifacts and take in the panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Or take a detour to Hemis Monastery, the largest and wealthiest monastery in Ladakh.

Finally, return to Leh and enjoy your last evening in Leh market.
Day 9: Tso Moriri (14900 ft) to Sarchu (13800 ft). Overnight in Sarchu

Begin your day at the serene Tso Moriri Lake, situated at an altitude of 14,900 feet. After a hearty breakfast, embark on a scenic drive towards Sarchu, located at 13,800 feet. En route, you will pass through Puga, known for its geothermal hot springs and stunning valley views. Continue to the picturesque Tso Kar, a high-altitude lake renowned for its salt deposits and unique landscape. Proceed through the beautiful village of Pang, famous for its breathtaking views and as a popular stopover on the Leh-Manali Highway. Arrive in Sarchu by evening and settle into your accommodation. Known as a major halt point on the Leh-Manali Highway, Sarchu is surrounded by towering peaks and dramatic landscapes. Spend the night in Sarchu, resting in preparation for the next leg of your adventure. Overnight in Sarchu.
Day 10: Sarchu to Manali

Start your day early from Sarchu, embarking on a scenic drive towards Manali. Your journey will take you through the breathtaking Baralacha La Pass. The pass, located at an altitude of 16,040 feet, is a marvel of natural beauty, often covered in snow.

Continue your descent, passing through the charming village of Jispa, nestled along the banks of the Bhaga River.

As you travel further, you’ll come across the picturesque town of Keylong, the administrative center of the Lahaul and Spiti district.

From Keylong, continue your journey through the Atal Tunnel, an engineering marvel that significantly reduces the travel time to Manali. The tunnel, which is one of the longest high-altitude road tunnels in the world, provides a quicker and safer route through the mountains, bypassing the treacherous Rohtang Pass.

After exiting the Atal Tunnel, the landscape transforms into lush forests and verdant hills, a stark contrast to the arid regions you’ve traveled through. Arrive in Manali by evening, enjoy the town’s vibrant atmosphere and prepare for your onward journey.
